In Valladolid, the large main church is the Convent and Cathedral of San Bernardino de Siena. It was built in the 1550s. It really is incredible to think about how there are the pyramids at Chichen Itza nearby that are from 800 AD, and then just 700 years later the landscape had totally changed with colonialism. And now we're 500 years past that, so this cathedral really is quite ancient as well. I really wanted to see inside this church, but it was closed while I was there. I recommend walking around the town square here and enjoying the view.
