The architecture of Chicago is a living, breathing force in that city. Starting shortly after the Great Chicago Fire created a blank canvas for new buildings in 1871, Chicago has attracted architects with massive talent, daring vision, and outsize egos (Burnham & Root, Louis Sullivan, Frank Lloyd Wright). Public parks and tourist attractions are built to highlight the skyline, from Millennium Park to Museum Campus. There are TWO "tallest building in the world" view attractions. And of course the Architecture Boat Tour (highly recommended).
