Chicago Market Days

Chicago, IL, United States
1 Kudo
Chicago has a diverse mix of neighborhoods that love to throw street festivals. The Lakeview neighborhood's Northalsted Market Days is one of the most popular, drawing more than 150,000 (mostly LGBT) visitors for a mix of street vendors, concert stages, dance clubs, and fantastic people-watching.

Throughout the day, people wander Halsted Street purchasing items (or taking samples) from vendor booths, purchasing beer and specialty drinks to carry on the street, and listening to performers on one of three stages. (In 2014, headline acts were Belinda Carlisle, Deborah Cox, and Neon Trees.) At nights, expect long lines and packed dance floors at popular clubs like Sidetrack, Roscoe's, and Scarlet.

CTA Red Line
With the CTA Red Line running right near nextdoor Wrigleyville, there's little reason to rely on cabs or Uber. It's even 24 hours, so if you live along the line, then even better for a late night trip! (Just watch your surroundings!)

Bars and nightlife

Scarlet Bar
This bar is especially small compared to others, but the flip side of it means that it's usually packed. Don't miss the small bar in the back if the main bar is too crowded to get a drink.
Great place to start out Sunday Funday. They have great drink specials and generally has a steady flow of people.
One of the largest bars in Boystown, Sidetrack usually has the best run operation and best branding of any bar at Market Days.
