When you think about it, our country is relatively young compared to the countries in Europe. We were exploring the small towns of Germany when we happened upon a sign that showed that the small town of Herforst was celebrating 750 years since they were established. And that was nine years ago! The town had a lot of very old buildings, and though none of them were from the original settlement of this small town, there were many houses that were marked with dates in the 1800s and early 1900s. It is very rare to see buildings of a comparable age in the states. That's why I love exploring areas like this!
