Savannah is very well known for its historic buildings and architecture, and one of the more famous buildings out there is the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. I mean, just look at this thing. It really is beautiful. It was founded by French immigrants from France and Haiti, who were fleeing the revolution in France and the genocide in Haiti. The church gained cathedral status in 1850. Tragically, a fire pretty much destroyed it 26 years later, but it was was rebuilt in 1900. Today, it is a quintessential postcard image of the city of Savannah. It is quite hot in the summer, mind you.
