The De Haar Castle is the most iconic and the most picturesque castle in the Netherlands. It took only about 30 minutes or so by car from Amsterdam and the castle is located before you reach to Utrecht. Through I am not sure if it will be easy to reach the castle by public transportation because it seems that the castle is nowhere near any train station. The castle is named as it belonged to the De Haar family from 14th century. The current castle was restoration work finished in the late 19th century. Due to its 19th century retouch, the castle does not seem like other medieval castle, but it is surely fascinating and one of the most picturesque castles in Europe I have seen. Surely a castle not to miss for castle lovers.
