Along this stretch of I-10 in the deep south, the landscape remains fairly similar regardless whether you are in Louisiana, Mississippi, or Alabama. Heading east from Louisiana, you don’t really consistently remain over solid ground until you are in Florida, and even that is fairly short lived. The miles of marshes are a beautiful sight. Equally impressive, at least to me, is the miles of raised highway/bridges which carry the traffic over these endless miles of soggy marshland. You will see that the exits from the highway tend to be “islands” among the bayou, and if you travel too far in any direction, you’ll be back in the swamp in no time.
