Spending the day hiking through the primeval forest in Newfoundland can build up quite a sweat. Our group was happily moving up valley, along a stream, until we came across this wonderful waterfall, feeding the watercourse we had been following for hours. There is a pool of glistening water at the base, just inviting us to stick our feet (or more) it is cooling waters. We stopped for a break, and a few of us jumped in. We immediately jumped out. It was cold! Bone chilling, numbing cold; cold that steals the air from your lungs. However I am glad I took that dip; as painful as that cold was, we had climbed several thousand feet to get there, and had earned this “reward “.
