On a recent trip to Vegas, we decided to visit Hoover Dam. I had previously read that the beat view of the Dam is actually from the Mike O'Callaghan–Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge, which is reached via a turnoff after the security checkpoint. We arrived early to beat the crowds and since it was January we almost had the bridge to ourselves! The bridge spans the Colorado River between Arizona and Nevada and carries traffic on Route 93. We learned that it was built in 2010 to divert traffic from the Dam itself. Previously auto traffic could experience up to a 2 hour delay waiting to cross the bridge! And now pedestrians can catch breathtaking views of the Dam and read about the construction of the bridge. We took a few selfies and pictures of the Dam and then headed on to the actual Dam.
