Benicia State Park

Benicia, CA, United States

Flag
The Benicia State Recreation Area is located in the city of Benicia and bordered on the west side by the City of Vallejo. The 447-acre park that was established in 1957, includes marshland, grassy hills and rocky beaches along the narrowest stretch of the Carquinez Straight. Southampton Bay, where the marshland is located, is where Southampton Creek dumps into the Straights. The park is a favorite place for joggers, walkers, I’ve seen mothers' groups out with the stroller brigade, bicycles and anyone just wanting to walk around a beautiful park. There are plenty of picnic tables and to top all this off, because Benicia is on the Carquinez Straight the weather is usually pleasant even in the summer. The park is also on the waterfowl migration flyway so if you go at the right time you can watch flocks of waterfowl flying by and landing in the marshland.
