The Akagera National Park in eastern Rwanda is a beautiful place, including several pristine looking lakes surrounded by lush vegetation and often rolling hills. On a hot day this would seem a great place for a swim, but that is not such a good idea. The lakes are also home to lots of crocodiles and hippos, both of which you really don’t want to swim alongside. You might not get to continue contributing to Barclay Travel Community. My guide, who knows their habits, did walk me right to the shore, from which they were visible enjoying the water and ignoring us.
