During our tour in St Petersburg, Russia we made a quick photo stop at the famous Church of Our Savior on Blood. The church is also known as the Church on Spilled Blood, the Temple of the Savior on Spilled Blood and the Cathedral of the Resurection of Christ. Construction of the chirch began in 1883after the death of Alexander II and was intended as a memorial to him. The construction was completed in 1907. The church was constructed along the Griboedov Canal which was used for transportation and later roads along both sides of the canal were paved to help with land transportation.
MAny boats and tour boats use this canal. It was used decades ago as a primary transportation route
