Badwater Basin is one of the interesting places to visit in the Death Valley National Park. This is the place known to be the lowest point of the America, well below sea level (282 feet below sea level). As the name says, we could see water but the water must be extremely salty. We could see crust of salts all around mixed with dirt and such scene is quite grotesque. Such deeply carved valley in the scorching desert environment makes this place such a unique place. A combination of the desert and the altitude below sea level is a perfect to make this area extremely hot. Heard a story that this area is called badwater as people crossed the continent to the west and found water but it turned out be fatally salty. Not sure if that was true story but surely the water in the pool could be tempting to thirsty people.
