Point Lobos State Reserve is just a few minutes south of Carmel on Hwy 1 and is a must see area. There are many different trails and the different parts of the park offers different terrain. We got there about 9 in the morning because I had heard the parking lots fill up in each location. They were right. While we did get parking, about 1/2 hour later, the lot was full. We walked the Cypress Grove Trail and South Shore Trail. Both were amazing. The vistas and overlooks were spectacular. We saw whales, birds, seals, and a deer! It is definitely a special place. The docents are very knowledgeable and helpful.
