Faial is located in the central group of the Azores archipelago, and is part of the so called "triangle islands", together with São Jorge and the neighboring Island of Pico. You can reach the islands with non-stop flights from Boston or Lisbon, Portugal. The ‘Ilha Azul’ (‘Blue island’), as Faial is often called because of its countless hydrangea hedges encountered everywhere on the island, is without doubt one of the most charming islands of the Azores. It was an important trading post due to its geographical position as a safe haven between Europe and the Americas. Today it is a famous point of reference for international yachting.
