Moving from Virginia Beach to land-locked Greenville, NC was a major buzz kill for our beach loving selves. Last summer when we moved we took a day trip to Nags Head, but we wanted something a little bit different this time. A few friends, Atlas and my boyfriend and I drove the 1.5 hours to Atlantic Beach.
This is a super clean beach that is mostly locals and families. The beaches get a little bit crowded on the main area closest to the parking lot, but don't worry there was PLENTY of space for 6 of us to sit comfortably just a few feet away from all of that. Dogs are allowed outside of the lifeguard zones, but remember to bring a blanket and umbrella so they don't hurt their paws or get overheated. There isn't a place to rent any.
Parking was only $6 for 4 hours and there were food places nearby as well. We had a great time playing on the beach, collecting shells, walking to the pier, swimming, and running around with our dog and friends. If you're looking for a low key beach that is out of the way of the swarms of tourists this summer , then this is the place for you!
