Ancient water management system

Fezna Ouled Jellal, Drâa-Tafilalet, Morocco
14 Kudos
If you take a guided tour from Fes to Marrakech by way of the Western Sahara if you have a good guide they will be sure to stop at the wells of Fezna. These wells are plentiful as each Bedouin tribe had their own. You can see the evidence in the many mounds in the distance. The system dates back 3000 years and originated in Iran. It is very informative and you can even walk down into one to see how they work. As usual, people will try to sell you things, most notably, fake fossils and Bedouin scarves. As usual, you should not buy.
