I had free time in Sweden, and I wanted to experience a julbord, the Christmas twist on the well known smorgasbord, a multi part buffet of classic dishes. A local colleague and many local blogs suggested a restaurant on a little island, requiring a ferry.
It was amazing. Reindeer, venison, sausages, pork, and, no kidding, 29 different preparations of herring. By the time I got to dessert, I was having some regrets. This is a multi hour experience, definitely not something to be rushed.
Of course, it is great to experience things like this with family and friends. But sometimes you're traveling solo, don't let that be an excuse to miss out!
