Xian is a city in east central China (Shaanxi Province) that is best known today for its location of an army of thousands of buried, preserved individually created soldiers – all made in pieces and parts of terra cotta. The Terra Cotta Army. Horses were also represented, along with their bridles, weaponry, shields, armor – all created out of Terra Cotta and buried with the Emperor of China, Xin Shi Huang when he died (210 B.C.). The accidental discovery was in the 1970s, and of course became an immediate and major discovery for China, but also the world and remains a very large tourist location today.
