We took our first family trip to Amelia Island and were so glad we decided to check it out. It provided a great place to stay to visit everything from Cumberland Island in Georgia to the historic St Augustine Florida. Amelia itself is a beautiful and not overly developed island. The north end has the actual city of Fernandina beach with it's many historic buildings, restaurants, bars, boutiques, etc. The rest has tons of green space and beautiful beaches which provided an incredible atmosphere to relax and enjoy exploring from. We rented a condo near the Ritz Carlton Hotel and it seemed like the perfect location to us, it was right on the beach and we could hear the waves which I love!
