A visit to Mt. Wai’ale’ale with no rain!

Hawaii, HI, United States
26 Kudos
Mt. Wai’ale’ale may not be the wettest place on Earth, but it can claim that it’s the second wettest place on Earth. The average rainfall here is 450 inches per year and the record for the most rainfall in a 1 year period totaled 683 inches in the 1980’s. Those numbers just amaze me. You can drive near the top and although it is a little bit of a trek, it is well worth it. Mt. Wai’ale’ale is one of the highest points on Kauai with an elevation 5,148 feet. This feels more impressive since sea level is not too far away. It truly feels like you are on the top of the world.
