A rodeo not to miss

Poway, CA, United States
11 Kudos
Poway is part of San Diego County but with its nearly 50,000 residents it is a city within the county. What is so remarkable about the city is the fact that over half of the city’s nearly 40 square-mile area is preserved as dedicated open space. The is a beautiful lake (Lake Poway), the Blue Sky Eco Reserve and a whole bunch of hiking trails that keep you busy and in touch with nature. They are highly sought after during the winter months when it is much cooler. Poway is also well known for its annual rodeo. Professional rodeo cowboys from around the country compete in events such as Bareback and Saddle Bronc Riding, Barrel Racing, Tie Down Roping, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping and Bull Riding. And then of course there is a "Mutton Bustin" event where kids under 50 pounds ride sheep. Real fun to watch as they try to hold on for 8 seconds, just like the cowboys. Don't miss this one if you are in San Diego!
