One of the most interesting sights in the Puglia area of southeastern Italy is the Trulli. These are small conical shaped houses made entirely of stone that are dry stacked (no mortar). No where are more of these found than the beautiful little town of Alberobello. This town has the highest concentration of trulli in Italy, and the world for that matter. Souvenir shops, restaurants and cafes and museums are all here for the large numbers of tourists that come here to see these interesting and unusual structures. Wear good, comfortable shoes because you will be doing a lot of walking on the cobblestone streets. The most enjoyable way to visit is to park outside the central area, and just wander the streets, with a surprise around every corner.
