German Christmas markets are probably my favorite thing to visit in Germany. We happened upon one in Berkastel-Kues that did not disappoint. While wandering the streets, we ran into the biggest Advent Calendar I have ever seen. The town has turned the face of one of their main buildings into an Advent Calendar and every night at five, there would be chimes, a song and a live performance from some locals before the day was uncovered on the calendar. This is something that we would have missed had some locals not pointed out this daily festivity and how to find it. Germany sure knows how to do Christmas!
