A dedicated shrine

Shibuya City, Tokyo, Japan
16 Kudos
Shibuya is home to the "Meiji Shrine", a shrine dedicated to the former Emperor Meiji and his wife who lived in the 19th century. As is the case with many of the temples, entrance is free. At the entrance of the complex and park is a 40 ft high torii gate that is made of 1500 year old cypress trees. Amazing that this has survived the times, imagine all the people that walked through the gate during its lifetime. Sundays are often busy with traditional weddings, a great photo opportunity and you will see beautiful kimonos. Grab a piece paper, write down your wishes and tie it to the prayer wall. Maybe they come true?
