A Town in Transition

Wappingers Falls, NY, United States

Just driving through and spending an hour or two, it seems as if Wappingers Falls is the kind of town that is in transition between the old life it used to have during times of industrial production, and revitalization after the decline of whatever industry sustained it. There are some really great shops and restaurants and a park all clustered around the Main Street area - but they are also shoulder to shoulder with "for rent/lease" signs and areas that are still abandoned or in disrepair. I took this photo because from this one alone, you'd think the place was some abandoned wasteland, but right around it was a vibrant cluster of businesses!
