In September, by wife and I took a road trip to Chicago. One of our stops was in the city of Cleveland, Ohio to check out the waterfront and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. While we were walking around the area of the Great Lakes Science Center near First Energy Stadium, we noticed thousands of small American Flags in the ground. We walked over to investigate and found it was set up as a makeshift 9/11 memorial. Each flag had an individual name taped to the flagstaff. It was a powerful experience to sit on the grass amongst this sea of so many American flags.
