A Great Spanish School and Lovely Little City in Guatemala

Quetzaltenango, Quetzaltenango Department, Guatemala
27 Kudos
Quetzaltenango, more commonly known as Xela, is a big small city in Guatemala with a large international population, and a lot of Spanish language schools. Find a good one and you'll take amazing trips up to volcanos, coffee farms, and tour little niches of local neighborhoods. There's plenty of hostels, street food, and parks to hang out in, and it's really a beautiful city to take in with breath taking surrounding areas. Check out hot springs, markets, and local lure, and enjoy the proximity to transport hubs that can take you anywhere else in Guatemala or in Central America that you want to go. Accommodations and food are so cheap it's a budget traveler's dream.
