Driving across multiple states over many days in the summer means you get to visit and know the different ‘comfort stations’, ‘welcome centers’, ‘rest stops’, and beneficial exits along the way. Many hours at the wheel on the way to your destination means periodic pull offs to refresh, eat, stretch, and yes, rest. Along Route 70 the Claysville Comfort Station was a needed break. Clean bathrooms, interesting maps and signage, placards and markers to draw the eye makes the break a little more interesting before hopping back in the car to continue the journey. Renovated in the 1980s style of rest stop, it is holding up quite well and was at quite a popular spot for travelers.
