So long Summer, it's finally Fall! To inspire you during this change of season, we've selected a few travel stories which highlight some of our favourite fall finds:
"Halloween weekend in Switzerland's Obernese Alps area in 2009 gave me some INCREDIBLE fall foliage to look at!"
Hiking and Leaf Viewing at Great Falls Park
"The jewel in the crown of Great Falls is Great Falls Park. It's SO beautiful and scenic, ESPECIALLY in the fall."
The US National Arboretum in Fall
"Absolutely beautiful! This place is a must for all natures' lovers and anyone who wants to have a picnic or a day out and about in DC. Good for kids, groups, picnics, long walks, short walks. There are a lot of flowers and trees here. It's great to feel like you are right in the heart of nature while still in the city."
Weekend Getaway for Northeast Urbanites
"An easy + scenic four hour drive from Philadelphia, but feels so much further away... For NYC-ers, the trip is only about 2.5 hours and is a perfect escape from the city! It's especially dreamy if you go as the leaves change in the fall."
"The Place de Vosges was the highlight of my day, and I must have spent over an hour in this beautiful place simply taking in the sights -- a grandmother doting on her little one, children feeding bits of baguette to pigeons, golden leaves falling softly to the ground."
Boston - History and Comfort Food
"While you would need weeks to really appreciate what Boston has to offer, we had a great time and literally just stumbled on everything we saw. Being late October, the weather was great and the leaves turning were stunning."
"Triple Falls is HUGE waterfall where scenes of the recent hit Hunger Games was filmed, as well as scenes from the classic movie, Last of the Mohicans. We did not expect something so breathtaking when we set out on our afternoon journey..."
"My family traveled up to Yosemite for the long Veterans Day weekend... It was cold but not freezing yet so it was enjoyable to sit by the fire at night or hike during the day."
Hiking the "Outer Loop"
"My husband and I hiked the "Outer Loop" in November. This hike is long- about 40 miles- and goes through the Chisos Mountains and low desert of Big Bend National Park."
Two Destinations, One Train Ride
"I always had the curiosity of what riding on a train would be like and was excited to learn that just a couple of hours from my house I could finally have the experience. Blue Ridge in north Georgia is a picturesque town... mostly of older, retired people and they have Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, which offers train rides to a small town that borders with Tennessee."
