Many hotels are willing to provide some extra perks just to make you a loyal guest and provide a higher level of service. From free hotel nights to complimentary beer during your stay, you could be looking forward to the VIP treatment without paying a premium. Here are 20 things your hotel will probably give you for free:
#1: Yoga Class Pass
De-stress, stretch, or work on your fitness goals with free access to yoga classes on or off the property. Several hotels offer free yoga to registered guests so you don't have to venture too far or pay extra to keep up with your practice.
#2: Happy Hour Drinks
Many chain hotels host a social hour or happy hour event for guests throughout the week. You can enjoy complimentary beverages and light meals just for being a registered guest.
#3: Free Hotel Nights
Your hotel might be willing to extend your stay with a promotional package where you get a free night for booking a certain number of nights. Alternatively, you could use a rewards credit card to redeem rewards for a free night.
#4: Toothpaste and Toothbrush
Almost all hotels have extra toothbrushes and toothpaste available for guests who might have forgotten to pack them. All you have to do is ask for them at the front desk.
#5: Hotel Room Upgrades
Some hotels will offer a free hotel upgrade if you ask at the right time. Check in with the front desk a few hours before your arrival time or when you arrive to see if any bigger and better rooms are available.
#6: Phone Charger
Many travelers forget to pack their phone charger and it can be a hassle trying to find a store that sells a charger that works with your phone. Check in with the front desk before you start shopping and you might be able to borrow one for your trip free of charge.
#7: Travel Guides
When you need tips on places to explore nearby or ideas on what to do, just ask the concierge desk or front desk for maps and travel recommendations. Most are locals and will be able to give you some insider tips on places to explore.
#8: Beach Towels
If you're booking a beach vacation, enjoy some time on the ocean with a comfortable beach towel or two. Many hotels offer complimentary beach towels and even beach chairs for guests — all you have to do is ask.
Many travelers forego packing mouthwash in their luggage because of TSA regulations on liquids. If you don't have any on hand, check with the front desk to see if they'll send up a miniature bottle for your trip.
Many hotels provide a complimentary continental breakfast or breakfast buffet with your overnight stay. Don't forget to ask about breakfast when booking or find out if you can get a breakfast voucher when you check in. Hotel chains including Hyatt Hotels, Country Inns & Suites, and InterContinental Hotels Group all offer a free breakfast.
#11: Hair Styling Tools
If you've forgotten your curling iron or flat iron, you may be able to call up the front desk to borrow one during your stay. Kimpton Hotels has a “Forgot It? We've Got It!” program that will give you hair styling tools to use free of charge.
#12: Late Checkout Options
Some hotels charge a fee for late checkout while others offer it as part of a package deal. If you want those few extra hours in the morning, simply ask the front desk if the room would be available for late checkout at no extra charge.
#13: Bike Rentals
When you want to explore the area by bike, you might not have to pay any fees for a cruiser bicycle or mountain bike. Some hotels offer bikes for guest use for all registered guests.
It's easy to forget to pack deodorant when you're on the road but hotels like Kimpton have you covered. Just head to the front desk to pick up a stick or two for your trip, free of charge.
While many hotels and resorts charge a fee for WiFi access, some still offer complimentary WiFi access as part of the booking. You might also be able to get free WiFi when you sign up for a hotel rewards or loyalty program at no charge.
#16: In-Room Workouts
If you don't have time to get to the gym or hire a personal trainer to work out with during your trip, enjoy a workout in the comfort and privacy of your room. Some hotels have created fitness apps and exercise channels so you can work out on the road, for free.
If you're a beer drinker, consider staying at a hotel that rewards you with free beer for every night of your stay. The Four Points of Sheraton will give you two local craft brews for each night booked.
#18: Daily Newspaper
You can keep up with current events with a fresh copy of a national newspaper delivered to your door each morning or in the lobby.
#19: Kids Activities
Some hotels cater to families with a kids program that includes books, video games, bath amenities, and coloring books to keep kids busy. All of this is provided free of charge.
#20: Car Service
If you need a ride to the downtown area or don't want to spend extra money on a car rental, your hotel might offer car service within a certain mile radius. For example, The Lumen offers complimentary car service to downtown Dallas.
