In 2017, my boyfriend and I finally visited the well-talked-about Riviera Maya. We came to the conclusion that neither of us is a super duper fan of the beach, but we ARE fans of adventure and culture. What I loved about this trip was that it gave me the opportunity to be courageous. I'm not an excellent swimmer. In fact, most times, my swimming looks more like drowning, so in deep waters I never go without a floating device. I'm also afraid of what kind of underwater creatures could caress my legs. However, during this trip I ignored all of my fears and jumped into cenotes and rode a ride that dipped us into the ocean waters. I also went zip lining and battled my fear of heights when I climbed a 137 ft. Mayan pyramid (pictured). It was a beautiful experience and I'm glad I got to walk away with a nice tan and memories of my unusually courageous self.
