It was summer 2017. A nursing student and a pre-dental hygiene student, we were ready for a mini vacation. We traveled to Seattle, Washington to enjoy a new city. We love to travel. Inexperienced hikers, we embarked on a 4 hour hike up to over 6,000 feet elevation to Tolme peak. We were in search of “the perfect mt. Rainier view”. It was a cloudy, Dewey, cool, beautiful hike up the pathways. Passing a lake and large cliffs, we wondered when we would make it. All of a sudden the clouds began to clear, and there she was. Mt. Rainier in all of its glory. The most glaciated active volcano in the United States. It was breathtaking, to say the least. We stared and took in the magnificent magnitude. We continued to make it to Tolme peak, where we were on top of the clouds. It was just us. Quiet. Peaceful. Full of life. We took a few pictures and spent the rest of the time there, sitting with each other in silence, enjoying what would become the greatest memory so far.
