My favorite trip this past year was backpacking on the Centennial Trail through the South Dakota Black Hills. We started on the south end at Wind Cave National Park and the scenery was gorgeous! We camped near the border to Custer State Park and were rewarded with seeing a herd of buffalo (bison) at sunset, and hearing coyotes howling in the night. The trail mostly followed old logging roads, so it was fairly level easy to walk on. The scenery was gorgeous! We spent one night staying a lodge in Custer State Park, and we also took a side hike to visit Mt.Rushmore. It was a wonderful trip and I hope to go back soon!
