Affectionate Elephants and Zebras share some water

Elephants and Zebras_DSC3678.JPGHugging ElephantsOne of the most interesting things on the African safari is to watch various animals interact, especially big ones as elephants. We were lucky enough to have stopped by one of Addo park waterholes to witness a big mama elephant drinking from the small pool of water while constantly pushing away a small herd of colorful zebras. Those zebras were thirsty and were trying to fight their way into the pool, but the elephant was simply bigger and agressive.

After awhile we saw another big elephant crossed in front of our car and run to interact with the one in the waterhole. They have "chatted", and crossed their trunks in multiple hugs and kisses; and then paused like that for few minutes... That's the moment this photo was taken. After such loving gestures the big mama elephant softened and let zebras to drink. We were pretty happy to be there to see such a positive ending to this story.
